How does a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test Work?
COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Tests are fairly non-invasive and only take about 2-3 minutes to perform and an additional 15 minutes to process.
The clinician will prepare all of their supplies, have you tilt your head back about 70 degrees and insert a swab into one of your nostrils less than an inch (about 2 cm) and rotate approximately 5 turns. They will then take the swab out and insert it into the other nostril and repeat the process. Once they are finished swabbing your nostrils, your part is completed.
The swab is then mixed in a vial with a buffer solution which is in turn placed on a test strip. Once on the test strip it takes about 15 minutes to completely process the results.
The Clinician will process your paperwork and provide you with your results and you’re good to go.
All said and done you should expect to spend about 20 minutes to complete the process.
Do I have to come to you to receive a COVID-19 Rapid Antigen Test?
Would we be Calgary’s best if you did? We have a few options that allow us to help you where ever you are.
Virtual Testing – We offer remote testing to help you regardless of where you are in the world so long as you have internet access. These tests are great for those not wanting or not able to visit our clinic or those traveling to and from Canada or where ever rapid antigen testing via telehealth is accepted. You must have your own Health Canada approved rapid antigen test which can be purchased through us (but not required) to be able to use our virtual test option.
Mobile Rapid Testing – We provide mobile rapid testing within Calgary, Airdrie, Cochrane, and Chestermere at your home or business. There is a $75 service fee involved with mobile rapid testing, however, this is only charged per location not per person so if for example you’re a group/family of 4 your total cost would be $175.00. This is a great option for large groups like conferences, weddings, corporate events, or work place testing needs.
